EXTRA-BRUT

The term "Extra-Brut" refers to the Dosage, that is to say the addition of a slight sweet touch via the Liqueur de Dosage that the producer will add at the end of vinification, just after the disgorging stage. This Liqueur de Dosage is a composition of Champagne Wine and sugar from Sugar Cane or even Sugar Beet that can be found in the Champagne Region.

An Extra-Brut Champagne contains between 3 and 5.9 grams of sugar per liter to be precise! Once the dosage reaches 6 grams, the Champagne will be classified in the category above Extra-Brut, that is to say Brut. A little tip to know the exact dosage : Don't just rely on what is indicated on the label, look carefully at the back label, or even the technical sheet of the bottle because it can vary!
